G Plan Form Five Mid Century Teak Vinyl Record Cabinet Restored

A fully restored G-Plan mid-century teak cabinet, believed to be from the Form Five range, with a clean architectural form and compact, highly versatile proportions.

The cabinet features two smooth sliding doors framed by a gently moulded outer edge. The doors open from either side to reveal a generous single storage compartment, making the piece particularly well suited to vinyl records, books, media accessories or general household storage.

The warm teak grain has been carefully revived during restoration, while the original red G-Plan label remains inside the cabinet. The original wooden base has been removed and replaced with slim tapered black metal legs, giving the cabinet a lighter and more contemporary profile while retaining its original mid-century character.

Its compact footprint makes it suitable for a living room, dining area, bedroom, study or hallway, where it could be used as a record cabinet, media cupboard or general storage cabinet.

Condition

This cabinet has been fully restored and is presented in very good vintage condition.

The teak surfaces have been carefully cleaned and refinished to enhance the natural colour and grain. The sliding doors move as intended, and the interior has been cleaned and refreshed.

The original wooden base has been removed and replaced with slim tapered black metal legs. This is a sympathetic later modification and is not part of the cabinet’s original G-Plan design.

The original red G-Plan maker’s label remains inside the cabinet. As an authentic vintage piece, it may retain minor historic marks, subtle tonal variation and small imperfections consistent with its age. These contribute to its character and do not detract from its appearance or function.

Care

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For occasional cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth and dry the surface immediately afterwards.

Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and silicone-based furniture sprays. Use coasters or protective mats beneath drinks, plants and decorative objects, and do not place hot or wet items directly onto the top.

Keep the cabinet away from prolonged direct sunlight, radiators and excessive changes in temperature or humidity.

Always lift the cabinet when moving it rather than dragging it, as this will help protect the metal legs, cabinet structure and flooring. Vinyl records should be stored upright and not packed too tightly.
